Dutch vocalist and musician Anneke van Giersbergen is best known as the lead singer for influential progressive metal outfit The Gathering, with whom she recorded six studio albums. In 2007 Anneke felt it was time to begin her own solo career. Along with her new band Agua de Annique the charismatic singer quickly established herself as a solo artist, releasing several albums to critical and popular acclaim. Anneke worked with numerous artists including Devin Townsend, Anathema, Within Temptation, Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, The Gentle Storm) and Moonspell. Pure Air was originally released in 2009 and recorded in an acoustic setting. There's a wide array of guest appearences on this album; Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Danny Cavanagh (Anathema), Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), John Wetton, Kyteman, and others.
